Rules & judging
All the information you need to know in order to enter 'In the can' is outlined below.
The rules
Here are the competition rules:
1. You can either enter as an individual or as a group with friends - but you must all be aged 21 years or younger.
2. Educational establishments can also enter but the film must be made by students aged 21 years or younger.
3. Your film should focus on the risks and dangers faced by young drivers and their passengers. We do not want entries that tackle wider road safety issues such as young children crossing the road, cyclists etc. If you want clarification on this point prior to making your film please ring 01379 650112 and ask for Sally Bartrum.
4. The competition will run from 13 September 2010 – 30 April 2011. You will be able to upload your film to this website between these dates. Providing it is deemed suitable, it will be screened on this website and assessed by the judging panel.
5. You will have to agree to your film being shown on this website, and used by road safety teams across the UK should they choose to do so.
6. You will also have to agree to your film being re-made professionally should the judges/organisers wish to do so. If this happens you will be involved in the process, but ultimately the organisers will have the final say about any amendments to the film.
You must not do anything inherently dangerous or illegal while making your film. If the organisers think that you have done so, your entry will be disqualified from the competition.
Judging & prizes
1. Entries will be judged by an independent panel of road safety, advertising/publicity and film experts. In judging, they will place more emphasis on the quality of the road safety message/information than the quality of the film making.
2. The first prize will be £1,000 for the winner in each category (individual/groups and educational establishments).
3. There will also be a runner up prize of £250 in each category.
