Viral film making tipsHere are some simple tips to help you make a great viral film.
1. A clear message
Make sure you know what you want your film to say. This is one of the most crucial points with regard to filmmaking.
2. Brainstorm
Get your ideas down on paper and share them with others. You need a solid idea for your film and one of the best ways to get started is to brainstorm with others.
3. Do your homework
Make sure you find out as much as possible about the subject - in this case road safety and young people. And review examples of other films.
4. Understand your target audience
It's very important to understand your target audience before you begin to plan your film.
5. Test your ideas
Once you've developed your idea(s) test them by asking other young people for their opinion. And listen to feedback and be prepared to modify your idea.
6. Plan carefully
An extremely important point. Plan everything carefully - from shoot dates to equipment and props required, to finding actors and any help you need from your production team.
7. Keep it short!
The best viral films are short - we suggest you keep your film to no more than 60"!!
8. Legal issues
Make sure you get permission from anyone who appears in the film - it is sensible to get them to sign a simple consent form.
9. Safety
Always do a health and safety check before filming and make sure you don't do anything that could be dangerous or illegal.
10. Post production
Always consider issues that might occur at the editing stage. Pay attention to detail. Are the settings on the camera/phone the same for each element of the shoot? Are the sound levels correct, etc?
If the film you submit includes scenes that were clearly dangerous or illegal to film, your entry will automatically be excluded from the competition. |
